Aviation and hospitality companies are tipped to be among a new gender-balanced line-up of business advisers to Boris Johnson.
Half of the 28 members of the prime minister’s new business council are expected to be women.
Virgin Atlantic, AGS Airports, the owner of Glasgow and Southampton airports, and Premier Inn owner Whitbread are to be represented, Sky News reported.
The list of members is expected to be published as early as today (Monday).
Microsoft, Scottish Power, Starling Bank, Turntide Transport, Forth Ports, Citi, D-Drill, Fujifilm, Oxford Nanopore, Matillion, Iceland Foods, are among those due to be represented.
Johnson’s Build Back Better Council met for the final time last month.
A No 10 spokesperson told Sky News: “The prime minister’s Build Back Better Business Council completed its twelve month term at the end of last year.
“The Council provided valuable insight and input into key government priorities.
“The prime minister will shortly launch a new business council, with a refreshed brief, to build on the success of the Build Back Better Business Council. Further details will be set out in due course.
“As with the Build Back Better Business Council, the new business council will be chaired jointly by the prime minister and chancellor.”
