Start-up Hans Airways secures first aircraft

Start-up long-haul carrier Hans Airways has secured its first aircraft, with the aim of launching services from Birmingham to cities in India this summer.

It has signed a letter of intent for an Airbus A330-200, configured in a two-cabin layout, which will operate with 275 economy and 24 premium economy seats.

Satnam Saini, chief executive, said: “We are delighted to have achieved this very important milestone in our two-year journey.

“Our scheduled operations centre on the Airbus A330, a popular and spacious long-haul widebody.”

Hans Airways has applied to the UK Civil Aviation Authority for its Air Operator Certificate and hopes to start services to secondary cities in India from Birmingham this summer.

Earlier this month, it started training for pilots and cabin crew.

It began recruiting crew in August last year and had hoped to begin flights later in 2021.

Hans Airways said it intends to have a “close working relationship with travel agencies and travel management companies”.
