Passengers flying with Tui Airways from Wales will no longer be required to wear face masks.
The change covering flights from Cardiff coincided with the scrapping of more Covid restrictions in Wales on Monday, including a law to wear masks on buses and trains.
The airline dropped its mask mandate for passengers on flights from England and Northern Ireland earlier this month – two years to the day since Covid was confirmed as a pandemic.
However, Tui Airways said it that under current guidance it is still mandatory for customers aged 12 and above to and from Scotland to wear a mask throughout their flight unless medically exempt.
Tui Airways said: “Face masks will no longer be a legal requirement on Tui Airways flights to/from England, Northern Ireland and Wales, however in line with UK government and EU Charter guidance, we strongly recommend that you still wear a mask throughout your flight.”
The airline added: “It’s important to note that you may still be required to wear a mask when leaving the aircraft and once inside the airport at your arrival destination.
“It is mandatory for customers aged two and above travelling to the USA on Tui Airways to wear a mask throughout their flight. Please remember to carry evidence if you are medically exempt.
“It is mandatory for all customers aged six and over travelling to Italy on Tui Airways to wear an FFP2 mask throughout their flight.”
Holidaymakers showing any Covid-19 symptoms or who have recently tested positive are advised not to travel and will be offered a fee-free change under the operator’s Covid flexibility policy.
Those flying with other airlines as part of a Tui package are advised to check their websites for the latest information.
