A-Rosa relaxes more Covid measures as cases drop off

A-Rosa River Cruises passengers will no longer be required to wear a mask, take a rapid antigen test at the beginning the majority of its cruises or complete a health questionnaire, the line has confirmed.

The decision to relax Covid-19 measures was made after the German river line’s Care Team evaluated the current pandemic situation and an ongoing reduction in the number of cases.

A-Rosa added that onboard cleaning and disinfection protocols remain in place to ensure hygiene standards are kept.

The line has been operating on the Rhine, Danube, Rhone, Seine and Douro since March. Those sailing on the Douro will still need to be tested at the start of their cruises.

Some of the countries A-Rosa’s ships sail though still require different documentation for entry, and all passengers over the age of 12 will continue to need proof of full vaccination or proof of recovery.

However, children under the age of 12 no longer require any vaccination documentation.

Lucia Rowe, managing director of A-Rosa River Cruises UK and Ireland, said: “After careful consideration by our experienced team, we’ve been able to reduce our protocols further.

“We continued with some measures after the legal requirement to do so was removed by various destinations, as we felt it was important to do so at the time.

“The Spa-Rosa with its sauna, gym and treatment rooms, plus our pools have also been fully operational with no restrictions.”

She added: “This further relaxation in our measures means we can finally return to offering as much flexibility and normality as is possible.”

Rowe explained how “keeping everyone safe” during A-Rosa operations remained the line’s “core focus”.

The line added: “The wellbeing and health of all guests and crew member remains a top priority and the Care Team will continue to monitor the situation, and if necessary, will adjust the protocols accordingly as regulations are amended or expire.”
