American Cruise Lines has upgraded and renamed ships within its fleet, which will grow to 15 in 2022.
Three paddlewheelers – America, Queen of the Mississippi and Queen of the West – have been named American Splendor, American Heritage and American West respectively.
Its fourth paddlewheeler, American Pride, will retain its name, the line said.
The move means that all the line’s riverboats and small cruise ships will carry the American brand name.
All four paddlewheelers will also be “remodelled to meet the sophisticated new bar we set for US river cruising with our ground-breaking modern riverboats”, said president and chief executive Charles Robertson.
The line added that “new colour palettes, luxurious textiles and linens, furniture and carpets, and regionally inspired artwork and flourishes” will be added to the paddlewheelers.
The project will be completed in time for the start of the 2022 cruise season next March.
The company’s website, marketing materials, cruise schedules and travel agent portal have been updated to reflect the name changes and redesign.
Meanwhile, the fleet is expanding with the addition of three riverboats: American Melody, American Symphony and American Serenade.
American Melody started sailing in August 2021, and American Symphony and American Serenade will begin operations next year.
American Cruise Line’s ships accommodate between 100 and 190 passengers on 35 itineraries across 31 US states.
