Euros boost Germany bookings for Riviera Travel

Riviera Travel has reported that German river cruise bookings increased by 20% during the Euro 2024 football tournament, which was hosted in Germany.

The figures, taken from the four weeks from June 8 to July 12, apply to a range of river cruise itineraries, including Cologne, the Rhine Gorge & Medieval Germany; Rhine Gorge & Cologne Discovery; Enchanting Rhine & Yuletide Markets; and Gastronomy of Switzerland & the Rhine, among others.

The Euro 2024 tournament started on June 14, with the final taking place in Berlin on July 14.

A third of holidaymakers ‘accidentally booked breaks’ during Euro 2024

Will Sarson, product director at Riviera Travel, said: “While the end result to Euro 2024 was not the one that all England fans were hoping for, it’s clear that many who tuned in to games over the last four weeks were also thinking about their next holiday while the action was taking place.

“Our varied range of Rhine itineraries offer a number of inviting experiences, from exploring the best of medieval Germany, taking in the beautiful Christmas markets during a festive sailing, or sampling the unique food and drink on a gastronomy-themed voyage.”
