The Cruise Line to focus on growth after management shake-up

The founder of The Cruise Line said the travel agency is “set for growth” following a “significant” management restructure.

Robin Maclear has stepped back from his MD role to become chairman, with David Smith, marketing director, taking on the role of managing director.

Ian Buckeridge rejoins the company as commercial director while Louisa Maynard has been promoted to reservations team leader.

Maclear said: “Having safely steered the company through the global pandemic, now is the time for The Cruise Line to strengthen the team and focus on growth, as we look to 2023 and beyond.

“David joined the company in 2008 and I am confident he has the drive and experience to take the company to new heights.

“Ian was integral in setting up The Cruise Line, working alongside me from 1992-2002.”

He said December marks The Cruise Line’s 30th Anniversary, adding: “I am very grateful to all the excellent people I have worked with over the years. It’s certainly been fun, and I am proud of what we have achieved.

“We are now investing heavily, and the company is set for growth. I have great confidence in the new board and the team I have in place.”

The Sussex-based cruise specialist offers luxury, niche, and experiential cruises. It is also the general sales agent (GSA) for niche luxury line brand Windstar Cruises and boutique Greek island brand Elixir Cruises as well as being passenger sales agent (PSA) for Swan Hellenic.
