Absolutely Snow doubles sales and expands trade partnerships

Ski specialist Absolutely Snow has more than doubled its bookings and expanded its trade partnerships since introducing a new bookable website and technology platform.

The operator, a trading name of Seawake, said its sales in December 2023 were up by 120% since it integrated the Travelgenix platform just over a year ago in May 2023. Ski bookings doubled to £1.4 million in December 2023.

In October, the operator signed a commercial agreement with Travel Counsellors, and contracts with Your C0-op Travel and Elite Travel folllowed. Through the Travelgenix system, the operator has created portals for each travel agent to log in to search and book online if they wish to.

Travel agent bookings now account for 40% of all forward sales for the ski operator. Prior to last October, the operator only worked with a small number independent agents.

The company attributed the “incredible growth” to the implementation of the Travelgenix solution and its online bookable website.

Duncan Gilroy, managing director of Absolutely Snow, said the new technology had made booking online easier.

He said: “Packaging flights, transfers, and accommodation is standard, but when we add ski passes, ski hire, and ski school, it becomes complicated. The Travelgenix system allows us to simply add and edit these additional products. The client or agent can then choose what they want to include.”

He added: “The Travelgenix system allows us to create a portal for each travel agent to log in and book online if they wish.

“Our team can quickly and easily update and change products, destinations, and add pages, offers, and most importantly, live availability.

“Recently, after visiting Are in Sweden, we were able to create a destination page and product page in the same day.”

Travelgenix chief executive Andy Speight said: “We started Travelgenix to offer affordable online bookable websites to travel companies so they could compete with the big players at an accessible rate. Integrating technology is an absolute must for travel companies to grow.”

Established after the sale of Alpine Tracks in 2009, Absolutely Snow operates from offices in Menai Bridge, Anglesey, and Andorra.

It offers a ski programme to destinations including Andorra, Spain (Baqueira and Sierra Nevada), France, Italy, Austria, Norway, and new for the winter 2024-2025, Are in Sweden. Specialising in family ski and learn-to-ski programs, it offers week-long stays and short breaks across all resorts. Andorra and Norway account for half of its business.
