Agent skydive raises more than £1k for charity

The group manager of Personal Travel Consultants in partnership with Blue Bay Travel has raised more than £1,000 for charity in a daring sky-high challenge.

Abbie Heaton took to the skies to help raise funds for Blue Bay Travel’s charity partner North Staffs Mind, taking part in a sky-dive.

“I was quite calm on the day, however once we’d reached altitude in the aircraft and the door opened, that was the ‘this is real’ moment,” she recalled.

But she added: “You don’t get time to think about it once you’re out, and actually the most enjoyable bit was the free fall which, before the skydive, seemed the scariest part.”

Surpassing her fundraising goal by more than 200%, Heaton raised £1,070 in less than three months before the event.

She said: “We all say mental health is important, but raising awareness, creating fundraisers and learning what the money we raise actually contributes to – in our case, six sessions of funded counselling –  is invaluable as that money can help someone’s life.”

The PTCs, which have just held their second annual conference in Majorca, have committed to uniting their efforts to raise money for the cause through a range of different events.
