American Cruise Lines has bought the river vessels owned by American Queen Voyages, which ceased operations in February.
AQV ran four traditional paddle steamers – which have now been acquired by American Cruise Lines – as well as an expedition ship.
AQV blamed the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic for its closure, saying it was “unable to rebound” from its effects.
The line’s cruises were sold in the UK by several companies including Light Blue Travel.
A spokesperson for American Cruise Lines said: “American Cruise Lines is pleased to be the successful bidder for AQV’s river vessels.
“We look forward to announcing additional details as we move through the bankruptcy process.”
