APT and sister brand Travelmarvel have dropped their single person supplement for 2022 Europe river cruise sailings.
In a webcast with Travel Weekly, head of sales and business development Brad Bennetts said the brands had dropped the levy to appeal to “aggrieved” single passengers who would otherwise be “whacked” with an additional cost.
He urged agents to tap into their solo traveller markets to share the offer.

“There is a real opportunity to bring new customers into the river cruise or cruising market because [there is] no single supplement at the moment,” he said.
“Often single travellers are slightly aggrieved, and rightly so, as they get whacked with a massive single supplement, whereas for the rest of 2022 we have no single supplements on our Europe river cruise sailings.
“Travel agents should be out there knocking on the doors of the single customers and offering them this fantastic opportunity to go and cruise with lots of other like-minded guests and not be penalised for it from a price perspective.”
Bennetts went on to encourage agents to book holidays as soon as possible to avoid prices increasing as the cost of living crisis continues.
He said: “Get your customers booking early – you want it locked in to make sure that they get the best deal. Book early is definitely the message.”
