Cox & Kings taps into train trend with new European rail collection

Tailormade specialist Cox & Kings has launched a new collection of European rail itineraries, prompted by the growing popularity of train tours.

The operator said Europe by Rail collection was created because more clients are seeking climate-conscious travel options from the UK, as well as immersive cultural experiences.

Cox & Kings’ existing European tours have been available with rail-only transport on request since 2023. However, these new routes have been created with recently launched European Sleeper trains as well as direct and scenic lines.

Traffic to the Cox & Kings’ train journeys webpage is up by 400% compared to this time last year, added the operator, which is part of the A&K Travel Group.

Countries featured in the collection include Belgium, Austria, Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Czechia, Poland, Hungary and Romania.

George Colvin-Slee, product manager, said: “We’ve seen huge enthusiasm for rail itineraries over the last few years.

“Cox & Kings has always focused on providing immersive and knowledge-based itineraries for the culturally curious and, through this rail series, clients can get closer to the captivating landscapes and must-visit sites across Europe.”

The seven-day Rhineland by Rail tour costs from £2,395 and visits Cologne, Aachen, Koblenz, Frankfurt and Heidelburg.

Journey through Central Europe is an 11-night no-fly holiday, from £2,695, visiting Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Munich and Zurich.
