Emerald Cruises marks float-out of Emerald Sakara

Emerald Cruises’ latest ship has been floated out in Ha Long Bay.

Emerald Sakara will depart on its inaugural sailing from Athens to Rome on August 5.

The 100-passenger vessel is the second in the fleet to be built at the Ha Long Shipbuilding Company in Vietnam, and is identical to sister ship Emerald Azzurra, which launched in March last year.

After making its debut in August, Emerald Sakara will spend the summer season sailing in the Mediterranean, after which it will cross the Atlantic to sail Caribbean and Central America itineraries over the winter.

Scenic Group founder and chairman Glen Moroney said: “Our director of product design Karen Mahoney and I have overseen the development and construction of Emerald Sakara, and having visited the shipyard recently can say it certainly exceeds our expectation.

“Being able to add to the Emerald Cruises fleet again so swiftly is a sign of the reception our new Emerald Yachts have received from guests and our travel partners.

“Emerald Sakara opens up a whole world of new destinations that are sure to spark greater demand.”

Andrea Stafford, UK director of trade sales, said: “This is a beautiful new yacht that raises the game yet again.

“It’s our intention to show it off as much as possible so we are planning some exciting fam trips for agents. Watch this space.”
