England’s West Country targets trade sales with streamlined planning service

Visit West has launched a new service designed to encourage and retain travel trade sales to Bristol, Bath and North Somerset, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.

The Destination Management Organisation (DMO) has created the Destination Triage platform to connect the trade with live availability in the West of England and “simplify” the planning process for agents, who can send an enquiry email and receive quick responses from local businesses.

Visit West hopes the service will increase efficiency as agents book accommodation, tours, food and drink, attractions and transportation in the region.

The service aims to boost both domestic and international travel, and is available to agents globally.

Jon Chamberlain, head of marketing, hopes agents will be more likely to book trips to the West of England due to the streamlined process.

He said: “We have the local knowledge and contacts that can help the travel trade and make their lives easier whilst also helping retain or increase the business within our region – a win, win scenario.”
