Kuoni sets target to double £20,000 fund raising for Mind

Kuoni will continue to partner with Mind for two more years after raising more than £20,000 already for the mental health charity.

A new fundraising target of £40,000 has been set – with the aim of raising another £20,000 by the end of December 2023.

Kuoni staff plan a range of activities which people throughout the company can get involved in.

The operator also plans to work with Mind to share its advice and expertise internally.

People at all levels within the organisation will be supported to stay informed about mental health and how to support someone who might be struggling.

Kuoni’s brand ambassador Simon Reeve spoke recently at an event hosted for Kuoni customers about his own mental health and encouraged people to talk and donate.

Derek Jones, chief executive of parent company DER Touristik UK, said: “Our team nominated Mind as the charity partner they wished to support and it’s been brilliant to see everyone get behind it.

“With the support of Mind, we’ve opened up the conversation about mental health internally and it’s essential that we keep that going and keep people talking.

“We’ve achieved a huge amount in two years, given all that we’ve been through in the travel industry and the fact that many fundraising events were cancelled.

“But we haven’t let that stop us and we’ve found innovative ways to raise much-needed funds.

“We’re now on a mission to double what we’ve already raised for a great cause – but we also intend to have some fun along the way. This isn’t about corporate donations, it’s about coming together as a team to do all we can to think about mental health, get people talking and taking part in something everyone can feel proud of.”

Mind head of corporate partnerships Charlotte Porter added: “We’re so thankful to Kuoni for their support over the past two years.

“We’ve loved seeing members of the team who have gone out of their way to step outside of their comfort zone to take on challenges such as climbing Snowdon and an around the world bake off to fight for mental health. A massive well done to everyone involved.

“The pandemic has had a devastating effect on the nation’s mental health, especially for those of us with existing mental health problems, and it is vital that everyone has access to the right support, advice and information when they need it.

“The money raised by Kuoni, will enable us to continue to provide support so that no one has to face their mental health problem alone.”
