Saga Cruises to welcome TV stars on board with new BBC Studios tie-up

Saga Cruises will welcome BBC stars on its ships thanks to a new partnership with BBC Studios.

The programme will run between July this year and March 2025 across seven no-fly itineraries on Spirit of Adventure and Spirit of Discovery.

Strictly Come Dancing professionals Luba Mushtuk and Vito Coppola will join two sailings: a 22-night Croatia and the Treasures of the Adriatic cruise departing on February 28, 2025, and an 18-night Western Mediterranean and Italian Riviera cruise departing on March 26, 2025.

The pair will give a talk sharing an insight into their careers as dancers and perform two shows.

Maggie Aderin-Pocock, presenter of astronomy programme The Sky at Night, will make two appearances on board where she will share stories from her career and how to make science accessible for everyone.

She will join a 49-night Caribbean and Central America Discovery cruise departing on January 6, 2025, and a 15-night Casablanca and the Canaries cruise departing on February 13, 2025

The former sailing will also be joined by Kate Walshe, director of visual effects company Millennium FX, who will explain how prosthetics, costumes, animatronics and props are used on programmes such as Doctor Who, Stranger Things and Silent Witness.

Explorer, evolutionary biologist and writer Ella Al-Shamahi, known for her work presenting Neanderthals – Meet Your Ancestors, Horizon – Body Clock and Human, will sail on a 19-night Adriatic Summer: Iceland and the North Cape cruise departing on July 17 and a Contrasts of Canada and the USA cruise departing on September 21.

While on board, she will host talks with details of her career as well as the techniques and research involved in bringing her programmes to the screen.

Just One Thing podcast host Michael Mosley and executive producer Zoe Heron will join a 30-night Tropical Shores of the Caribbean sailing departing on November 5. where they will discuss the making of the health and wellbeing programme.
