Over-50s specialist Silver Travel Advisor has added two categories to its annual Silver Travel Awards.
The voting public will be invited to submit nominations for their ‘Overall Over-50s Holiday Provider’ in a category without a shortlist, while another new category has been introduced to recognise success in the solo travel market.
The ‘Silver Standout for Solos’ award completes the five self-entry categories which reward travel companies that have been outstanding in their delivery on innovation, marketing, representation, sustainability and solos.
Silver Travel Advisor managing director Kerry Gallagher (pictured) said: “The introduction of the Overall Over-50s Holiday Provider category aims to give the over-50s community more say in who stands out at the very top of their game, regardless of specialism. It’s going to be really interesting to see who comes out as the overall favourite.
“Meanwhile the addition of the Silver Standout for Solos award reconfirms our commitment and support for mature solo travellers. It’s a huge part of our audience and we’ve been delighted to see more and more operators develop their product offering to cater for this group recently. I expect there to be some really strong entries, so our judges will have a tough job on their hands.”
There are 20 categories in total, with the winners to be announced at a ceremony in London’s One Moorgate Place on Thursday, October 24. A celebrity host will be unveiled on the evening.
The winners in all categories will be chosen by the Silver Travel Advisor over-50s community, who will take part in online voting on silvertraveladvisor.com between July 29 – September 8.
Gallagher said: “The Silver Travel Awards have become a real highlight of the calendar for both our community and our travel partners and suppliers.
“In 2023 a record-breaking number of votes were cast by the public which exceeded 150,000 showing how engaged the over-50s are at showing their support for those travel brands, companies and operators who have gone above and beyond to provide inspiring holidays and the very best service.”
