Silversea to restart Asia sailings from November

Silversea is on track for a “record-breaking year” in 2023 following the announcement the line will restart all its Asia sailings from November.

Chief commercial officer Barbara Muckermann told Travel Weekly three Silversea ships will return to Asia next month, with China the only destination exempt from its itineraries.

Silver Spirit will be a permanent resident for Asia while Silver Moon and Silver Shadow will pass through while sailing on other itineraries.

Muckermann encouraged agents to promote Asia sailings to customers looking to book within the next three months as it will be a “unique opportunity to experience the destinations without many tourists”.

“In the coming months, Asia is still going to have far fewer tourists than in previous years as not many other cruise lines have restarted sailing there,” she said.

“For some people, it will be just the group on their sailing that will dock in ports and they can experience the entire place free from other tourists which will be a truly unique experience.”

Roberto Martinoli, Silversea president and chief executive, said the line is experiencing a record year this year but will top it in 2023.

“Next year will definitely be a record year for us. This year is already a record year but we know that 2023 is going to be even bigger as we continue to grow our capacity.

“We have already nearly sold out all our Caribbean cruises for 2023 as we’ve seen the strongest demand ever for the destination. Normally it is a struggle to sell the Caribbean but not next year.

“We still have some capacity for South America, Australia and New Zealand but they are selling out fast.”

Muckermann added: “We really need to thank the trade for their support in the past few years and we look forward to having a more normal year in 2023.”
