Travel agency and online publisher Take the Family plans to take on two more consultants as it seeks to strengthen its foothold in the family market.
The agency, a member of Hays Travel Independence Group, currently has a team of five working from home, with four staff directly involved in selling holidays.
It already specialises in the family market, particularly active and adventure breaks, but now needs more family travel consultants – preferably mums or dads with a flare for selling and a passion for family breaks outside the traditional ‘fly and flop’ market – to meet a hike in enquiries post-Covid.
Owner Andy Cook said the increase in demand was the result of more families seeking expert advice from agents and the business appearing high in online searches related to specialist family holidays.
He said: “We are finding that people are very favourably disposed to agents now because there have been so many horror stories of being left in the lurch. Sales have increased and we are now very excited about 2023.”
Cook said the company, which also works as an online publisher, was now focused on carving out a bigger niche in family holidays outside of mainstream beach breaks.
It has 3,000 pages of content on its site and 18,000 people signed up to its online newsletter, which provides family holiday related articles.
He said: “The aspiration of the business has always been to go big. We have worked hard on our search engine optimisation and content but we want to do a lot more and do it better.
“We want to push on the social media side of the business and keep building the site and the content so we can continue to be relevant and attract parents on the one hand and advertisers on the other.”
Take the Family started as an online publisher of family holiday content, referring customers to its travel advertisers, before becoming a travel agency in 2016, when it joined Hays Travel IG.
