Tui Care Foundation has expanded its Tourism Recovery Programme to support 100 businesses in Tunisia as they recover from the pandemic.
The scheme runs in partnership with enpact – a Berlin-headquartered non-profit organisation – and is already helping 315 firms in Egypt, Mexico, South Africa and Kenya.
The partners focus on small and medium-sized enterprises that have a positive, social or environmental impact and demonstrate innovative business models.
Participating Tunisian businesses will gain access to mentoring by tourism experts, training, and financial support of up to €9,000.
Online training covers topics such as leadership, digital transformation and sustainability, while the mentoring component is tailored, with experts from the Tui Group and other companies consulting with the participants about how to optimise their business models.
Tunisia is the fourth most visited country in Africa, with 15% of the population employed in tourism. Arrivals fell by 65% in 2020 amid the pandemic.
The Tourism Recovery Programme is supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
