Virgin Voyages celebrates line’s diversity on Valiant Lady

Sir Richard Branson joined crew on Virgin Voyages’ second ship Valiant Lady to ‘celebrate the importance of diversity within the business’.

The adults-only cruise line claims to have more than 80 different nationalities on board.

Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson joined his crew in Toulon, France to celebrate the diversity within the team ahead of World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development on May 21.

The 2,770-passenger ship arrived in Barcelona on Saturday to begin its first summer season in the Mediterranean, offering seven-night itineraries.

Speaking ahead of the ship’s arrival, Virgin Voyages chief executive Tom McAlpin said: “We are so excited to finally bring our beautiful Valiant Lady to Barcelona and begin her European tour.

“With her sister ship Scarlet Lady sailing the gorgeous Caribbean seas, the stunning Mediterranean was the dream destination for our next home.

“From Palma de Mallorca, to Cagliari or Toulon, we’re thrilled to be able to offer sailors [passengers] the Virgin access to some of Europe’s most stunning destinations.”

Virgin Voyages has claimed a 174% year-on-year uplift in UK bookings, which the line says indicates “a strong return to cruising in 2022”.
