Japan specialist Wendy Wu Tours will stage a cultural ‘treasure trail’ event in London next month to celebrate the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The summer Olympic Games are scheduled to start in the Japanese capital on July 23, after being postponed in 2020 because of Covid-19.
Very few British visitors will be allowed to travel to Tokyo but the tour operator aims to bring “the spirit and essence of the games and everything that embodies Japan” to London.
The one-day event will take place along the banks of the Thames and throughout the city on July 24.

Founder Wendy Wu will officially open ‘Tokyo-on-Thames’ at London Bridge, waving off groups of contestants who will take part in a self-guided tour to uncover clues about Japanese experiences and the bond between Tokyo and London.
The grand finale will be at a secret location to be discovered on the day, with participants sharing a photo opportunity with an official London 2012 Olympic torch bearer.
Wu said: “As London’s twin city, Tokyo is extremely important to the capital and what better way to celebrate our partnership, and of course pay homage to the spirt of Olympiad, than staging this unique event, which embraces the uniqueness and diversity of both cities.
“This is a fun and innovative opportunity to enjoy a Japanese-style day out in the capital, mixed with a degree of competitiveness for those inclined or simply to be enjoyed at your own leisurely pace, while taking a journey through the sights and sounds of London, Tokyo-style.”
‘Tokyo-on-Thames’ runs on July 24, with starting times at London Bridge from 10:30am-1pm. It costs £35 per person.
