Actress Sophia Loren confirmed as godmother for 19th MSC Cruises ship

Actress Sophia Loren will perform as godmother for her 19th MSC Cruises’ ship at the naming ceremony of MSC Euribia.

She will name the new-generation vessel as she holds a “long-standing personal relationship” with the line.

The naming ceremony for what is described as the company’s most environmentally advanced ship takes place in Copenhagen on June 8.

The Danish capital was chosen as the launch location for the ship due to its rich maritime heritage and dedication to sustainability.

MSC Euribia is the second ship in MSC Cruises’ fleet to be powered by liquified natural gas (LNG), claimed to be the cleanest and most efficient fuel available for cruise ships currently commercially at scale.

Environmental technologies include advanced onboard wastewater treatment systems, waste management handling, energy efficiency measures as well underwater radiated noise management systems to reduce the potential impact on the marine environment.
