Azamara is to drop its pre-embarkation testing requirement from Monday (July 25).
The cruise line will require passengers to take a Covid test in ports where it is still required in accordance with country regulations.
Proof of Covid vaccination will also still be required by Azamara, which advises passengers to get tested “at their leisure…to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience”.
President Carol Cabezas said: “The easing of our testing policy marks a step in the right direction towards a return to normalcy for the travel and cruising industry.
“Cruising is one of the safest ways to travel, and our existing health and safety protocols onboard will ensure peace of mind for our guests and crew as we move forward.”
Azamara does require passengers aged 12 and above to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before sailing.
Covid-19 testing will continue to be available to guests, the line added.
Meanwhile, Princess Cruises has confirmed it can accommodate up to 10% of unvaccinated guests on “most sailings” as the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is set to end its Covid-19 programme for reporting coronavirus cases on ships.
A spokesperson for the line said: “Princess Cruises rigorously follows guidelines from governmental, health and regulatory agencies and organisations throughout the world.
“These guidelines are developed in consultation with leading medical and health experts and have proven very effective as we have resumed operations across our fleet.
“We continue to adapt and evolve our vaccination guidelines based on changing circumstances.”
