More than 50 positions are being created across the Barrhead Travel retail network with the relaunch of the agency’s modern apprenticeship programme.
Further apprenticeship opportunities for head office positions, including roles within marketing, HR and IT, are also being made available.
The return of the initiative, in partnership with a local college, will see the group become one of Scotland’s only Travel Services apprenticeship providers that offers a ‘hybrid’ model with both college study and workplace learning.

This partnership will also see two experienced Barrhead trainers qualify as assessors to work with the college.
A scheme in England will follow a similar framework and be delivered in partnership with a well-known education partner.
Barrhead Travel president Jacqueline Dobson said: “As someone who started their own career through an apprenticeship scheme, I know the impact that offering young people genuine development and progression opportunities can have.
“The travel industry is built on talent from young people – with many of our leaders starting their careers as trainees.
“The pandemic paused apprenticeship intakes across the entire travel ecosystem but now, we must focus on re-engaging with young people to create a future talent pipeline.”
She added: “We intend to continue engaging with schools, colleges and government bodies to share the reasons why encouraging young people to join the travel and tourism industry has myriad economic benefits.
“Travel is back – and we’re excited to play a part in shaping the next generation of industry leaders.”
