The number of travel jobs available last month was the highest August total since 2017, according to the latest figures from C&M Travel Recruitment.
The number of opportunities last month was up by 40% compared with August 2022, up by 78% on August 2021, up by 9% on August 2019 and up 12% compared with August 2018.
The number of new travel roles was the third-highest monthly total in the year so far, but the number of candidates searching for jobs dropped to the year’s lowest level.

C&M Travel Recruitment managing director Barbara Kolosinska said: “Lots of exciting roles have newly been made available and this should lead to an increase in job placements in the next couple of months.”
The number of job candidates in August dropped by 18% on the month before, but C&M Travel Recruitment said August is usually the second-slowest month for travel recruitment, with December being the slowest.
This year’s August figure stood at 4% below 2022, 15% below 2021, 9% cent below 2019 and up by 7% on 2018.
The month also saw a fall in new job placements, with August’s total dipping by 26% compared with July and by 58% compared with August 2022.
Kolosinska said: “August is always one of the slowest months of the year for recruitment – with holidays and late summer childcare taking priority for both job seekers and decision makers.
“Despite that, August was a much busier month for new vacancies than we have seen in recent years.”
She added: “Travel salaries have now been steadily rising for around two years and we’re continuing to see monthly increases as companies battle for the best candidates in the market.”
All of the figures are drawn from vacancies advertised with C&M Travel Recruitment, which describes itself as the largest and most successful specialist travel recruitment company in the UK.
