Club Med touts educational element of new club for children

New activities are being introduced by Club Med designed to take a positive approach to educating children.

Mini Club+ is designed for youngsters aged between four and ten.

The programme is set to be introduced in July in a number of resorts in Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Marrakech followed by the rest of the all-inclusive operator’s portfolio by the end of the year.

Features include Ninja Bootcamp where children design their own obstacle course; Hero’s Parade that will see children think of a superpower they wish they had and mime it to their peers for them to guess; and Zen Tales, a combination of storytelling and yoga poses to promote creativity and connection.

The education method was developed by a UK-based psychologist, professor Ilona Boniwell, who headed the first masters degree in applied positive psychology in Europe.

Club Med is keeping the best of its original youth programme, including tennis, archery, sailing and circus school.

UK and northern Europe managing director Estelle Giraudeau said: “We understand that parents want their kids to create memories and embark on new experiences whilst on holiday.

“We know there is immense pressure facing our children today, which  is why we have looked to take our Mini Club Med programme to the next level by developing it into one that will nurture children and help them make new friends and experience childhood to the fullest.”
