A change at the top at accessible travel specialist Enable Holidays has seen founder Lynne Kirby step down as managing director of the business she founded in 2004.
She is succeeded by Ben Kirby, who joined the Birmingham-based company from FCM Travel Solutions, part of Flight Centre Group, in 2017.
Prior to taking up his position on the board, he played a key role in navigating Enable through the pandemic period as general manager.
Lynne Kirby, who entered the travel industry at Horizon Holidays in 1973, will remain an active member of the board in the new management structure.
Enable Holidays has grown exponentially in 20 years and offers more than 500 holidays in over 50 destinations.
Ben Kirby hopes to open up more of the world for holidaymakers who are in need of specialist facilities and services.
He said: “Accessible travel is not just about assistance at the airport and a few adaptations in the accommodation; it’s more a case of providing a tailor-made service and supporting our customers to ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
“But, whilst Enable is well-known for going the extra mile for its customers, there’s lots more to do if we are to see universal accessibility and equal holiday opportunities for everyone.
“And it’s on this topic I’d like to see a bringing together of the travel industry, local communities and governments to plan a fairer future for all.’’
