More than 250 sign up for Advantage Madeira conference

More than 250 delegates have signed up for the first Advantage Travel Partnership overseas conference in three years.

The three day get together in Madeira will be one of the first major overseas travel industry events to take place since the pandemic hit in March 2020.

Members of the independent agency consortium have been updated on  the group’s plans for the conference, taking place on April 29-May 2 2022 at the Savoy Palace Hotel.

A combination of plenary sessions, workshops and speed dating with suppliers will take place in addition to presentations from the group’s leadership team.

A number of “high-quality” keynote speakers will be announced over the coming weeks.

In-depth business sessions will cover key topics such as sustainability, wellbeing and diversity and inclusion.

Chief executive Julia Lo Bue-Said said: “After two years of turmoil, the worst our industry has ever seen, we have demonstrated amazing resilience.

“We are now asking our members and supplier partners to reject that Zoom call, close their laptops and join us live and in person for the Advantage conference 2022.

“This year’s event promises to be a truly memorable event for many reasons. Not least because it will have been three years since our last overseas conference and therefore a great opportunity for us to reflect and move forward, to reconnect and inspire.

“Madeira is a new destination for us as a conference destination and we will be making the most of being able to explore the breath-taking landscapes, stunning natural heritage and enjoy the local gastronomy.

“The tourist board has been amazingly supportive, and we can’t wait to welcome our members for what we believe will be a very special event.”

Leisure director Kelly Cookes added: “We have had a really positive response from both our leisure and global business travel members, and already have over 250 delegates registered.

“Members are telling us that they are really looking forward to having the opportunity to catch up with fellow members and industry partners after the torrid events of the last few years.

“We spend a great deal of time planning for our conferences, making sure that the-end-to-end experience for our members is a completely enriching and rewarding experience for them and this year is no exception. Madeira 2022 is sure to be one of our best conferences ever.”
