Rocky Mountaineer US train rebranded as route is extended

A Rocky Mountaineer route in the US is being extended to connect Denver, Colorado with Salt Lake City in Utah over three days.

The expanded ‘Rockies to the Red Rocks’ route will operate next year by a new luxury train brand called Canyon Spirit.

The train has been operating under the Rocky Mountaineer name since 2021.

The new identity reflects the company’s commitment to providing train journeys through the American southwest.

The new three-day train journey will being operating from April 21, 2026, including overnight stops in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, and Moab, Utah.

It will travel weekly with one westbound departure from Denver and one eastbound departure from Salt Lake City.

Prices start at £1,680 per person plus tax, including overnight hotel accommodation in Glenwood Springs and Moab.

The Salt Lake City extension will operate in addition to the existing two-day Rockies to the Red Rocks route, between Denver and Moab.

Tristan Armstrong, chief executive of Canyon Spirit and Rocky Mountaineer parent company Armstrong Collective, said: “We could not be more excited to bring our Canyon Spirit train to Salt Lake City, and to expand our Rockies to the Red Rocks route further into the beautiful state of Utah.

“Although the name of our train is changing, our world-class service and onboard experience will remain the same.

“Our family and team members all look forward to sharing the beauty of the American southwest with even more guests from across the United States and around the world.”
