More: Spain to tackle decrease in UK visitor durations
Spanish Tourist Office director Manuel Butler said: “This year’s programme highlights aspects of social sustainability which are often ignored in wider discussions around the term, and we expect the event to create important discourses on balancing different aspects of responsible travel.”
The event, at The Conduit in Covent Garden, will be co-sponsored by Visit Benidorm and Mallorca Tourism Board.
Panel sessions will discuss the circular economy, biodiversity and accessibility, with participants including Intrepid’s managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Zina Bencheikh, as well as Abta senior sustainability manager Carol Rose and Limitless Travel chief executive Angus Drummond.
Jus, the first keynote speaker, is responsible for shaping, leading and implementing the WTTC’s research agenda. He will present the latest environmental and social indicators from both the UK and Spain in the context of the European averages.
Cotton will talk through the process of accurately calculating carbon footprint, as well as strategies to reach net zero. His company is a carbon consultancy.
The afternoon event will be followed by networking and then Spain’s Sustainable Media Awards.
