Star Clippers to relax Covid protocols next month

Tall-ship line Star Clippers is to start accepting unvaccinated passengers from early next month.

Fully-vaccinated passengers will also no longer need to provide a negative antigen test prior to embarkation.

But passengers without a Covid vaccination will be required to provide a negative antigen test within 48 hours before embarkation or a PCR test performed within 72 hours. Home testing will not be permitted and the line says it is the passenger’s responsibility to facilitate the test.

The new Covid protocols come into effect on Royal Clipper from November 5, 2022; on Star Clipper from November 19, 2022, and on Star Flyer from November 26, 2022.

General manager Fay McCormack called the relaxation of rules a “dramatic step forward” for the line as part of its pandemic recovery.

She said: “This latest update will come as a huge relief to new guests and existing passengers alike. Star Clippers will continue to adhere to strict health and hygiene policies on board, closely following public health guidelines, as we have always done so.”
