Thailand is dropping its Covid test entry requirement for vaccinated visitors from May.
The country’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has approved the lifting of the PCR testing requirement for international arrivals effective from May 1, 2022.
It has also introduced two new entry schemes for both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers.
International travellers who are fully vaccinated will no longer be required to show proof of a pre-arrival negative PCR test or undergo a test upon arrival.
However, they will still be required to register for a Thailand Pass with a Covid vaccination certificate and an insurance policy with coverage of at least $10,000, reduced from $20,000.
Once they have arrived in Thailand they will be free to go anywhere in the country.
International travellers who are unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated will also no longer be required to show proof of a pre-arrival negative PCR test or undergo an arrival test.
However, they must quarantine for five days on arrival and undergo a PCR test on the fifth day.
They will also be required to register for a Thailand Pass with a five-day hotel booking and an insurance policy with the same coverage as vaccinated visitors.
Unvaccinated travellers who upload proof of a negative PCR test within 72 hours of travel via the Thailand Pass system will not be required to quarantine once they’ve entered the country.
