Third Princess ship returns to service

Princess Cruises’ ship Sky Princess has set sail with paying passengers for the first time in almost 18 months.

The ship has started a series of UK domestic sailings from Southampton as the third vessel in the fleet to return to service in the wake of the pandemic, which shut down cruises in March 2020.

Sky Princess, which entered service in 2019, has joined sister ship Regal Princess to sail around the UK on a series of ‘seacations’.

Sky Princess is operating in UK waters for vaccinated passengers only until October 5 on short scenic voyages visiting Liverpool, Greenock, Belfast and Portland.

UK and Europe vice president Tony Roberts said: “It is fantastic to be welcoming guests back onboard another Princess ship, this time Sky Princess, our second ship to join us here in the UK.

“Princess is one of only two cruise lines to have two ships operating out of the UK this summer, which bears testament to our commitment and devotion to UK guests.”

He added: “Yesterday was a significant day for Sky Princess as it also marked her first sailing from Southampton – her homeport for three consecutive years – with guests on board.

“We are delighted to have one of our newest ships dedicated to the UK market and we are certain guests will love everything Sky Princess has to offer.”
