Barrhead Travel has improved its position in the ‘Best Companies to Work For’ list, which surveys employees on factors including wellbeing, pay and leadership.
The agency group has been ranked 48th in the Q3 list of the UK’s best large companies, while taking 22nd place in the northwest region, 18th in Scotland and fifth among leisure and hospitality companies.
Barrhead is the only travel agency group in the large companies list and the top outbound travel business in the leisure and hospitality tables.

Barrhead president Jacqueline Dobson said: “We have doubled down on our commitment to our people over the last few years which has resulted in stronger team spirit, high morale and a culture of wellbeing.”
The rankings are compiled by Best Companies, which invites employees to complete a confidential survey about workplace engagement.
Between 24 and 70 questions are asked, covering issues including leadership, wellbeing and pay.
Dobson said she was delighted that Barrhead had moved up the rankings, having previously been listed 98th in the large companies section and 16th for leisure and hospitality.
“What we are doing really well is listening to feedback from our workforce and implementing positive change at pace,” said Dobson.
“Investing resources in conducting surveys is essential as it gives our people an alternative platform to voice their opinion.
“I’m delighted that our people have recognised what we’re doing and that we have achieved an even higher ranking in this year’s Best Companies [list] as a result.
“Barrhead Travel is, in my opinion, the best place to work in travel and we’re incredibly excited for what the next year holds.”
Barrhead announced in July that it had doubled its number of mental health first aiders, as well as signing the Women of Wellbeing pledge on the menopause.
