Silver Travel Awards to return after pandemic pause

The Silver Travel Awards – organised by over-50s specialist Silver Travel Advisor – will return later this year following a break amid the pandemic.

The Silver Travel Awards 2022 ceremony will take place at a live event on October 20 at The Wallace Collection in London.

The awards recognise brands, companies and operators that provide holidays and services for mature travellers.

This year sees the introduction of five new award categories, bringing the total to 19. Categories range from cruise, tours to activity and adventure sectors.

The winners will be chosen by the Silver Travel Advisor over-50s community, with online voting taking place on silvertraveladvisor.com between August 1-September 11.

Four Silver-i Awards will also be awarded to companies who demonstrate innovation within the industry.

These awards will be judged by a panel of industry experts, based on self-entry submissions. Details on how to submit an entry will be shared in due course.

Kerry Gallagher, Silver Travel Advisor’s marketing director, said: “We know our silver travellers have been travelling again and making the most of the ability to get away following two years of disruption.

“Our latest research showed that our community of over-50s travellers were planning to take more holidays this year, so it feels like the perfect time to reflect on their experiences and show our appreciation to those brands and companies who are really looking after the mature traveller.

“The industry still has its challenges, but there is a lot to celebrate, and the awards aim to shine some much-needed positivity onto the joy of travelling and the enriching experience it provides.”

The awards event will be hosted by a celebrity to be revealed on the evening, along with Silver Travel Advisor’s managing director, Lisa McAuley, and members of the Silver Travel Advisor team.
