CONNECTCar Rental has expanded its information technology department to take on a Web systems designer.
Managing director Adrian Duthie said:”Six months ago I had a part-time computer programmer.Now I have got four staff in the department which shows how important technology is becoming.”
He said the Internet accounts for 22% of its car-rental bookings made, between 50-100 a day. “When we first launched the service a year ago, we achieved £100,000 of business in the first three months. Now we achieve that amount every month.”
According to Duthie, end of first-year figures estimate that £1m of business will be generated on the Internet.
