Midconsort has confirmed that its second annual conference will be held at the Coral Beach Hotel in Paphos, Cyprus, between November 24 and 26. The three main sponsors will be UKLG, Hamilton Travel and Holiday Autos. A four-night package costs from £205 for agency owners and staff and £225 for spouses and friends.
n amadeus winstwo new contracts
Long-haul specialist Bridge the World and consolidator Quest have dropped global distribution system supplier Galileo in favour of rival Amadeus. Both firms have signed five-year contracts with Amadeus.
n whitbread sees 7.1% rise in pre-tax profit
Whitbread, the owner of Swallow Hotels, has reported a 7.1% rise inpre-tax profit to £391.2m for the year ending March 4 2000. Turnover was up 7.5% to £3.4bn. Chairman Sir Michael Angus said consumer spending had improved in the course of the year and growth was stronger in the second half than in the first. Sir Michael will step down in favour of non-executive director Sir John Banham after Whitbread’s annual general meeting on June 20.
