Future venues announced for trade event

Rendezvous committee chairman Peter Elmhirst has announced the future venues for the Canadian travel trade event until 2004.

He said that following Rendezvous 2001 in Toronto, the show will be held in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2002; Vancouver, British Columbia in 2003; and finally in Montreal, Quebec in 2004.

At the show, Elmhirst went on to point out the financial benefits of being a host city. He said: “The immediate expenditures of visiting delegates as well as the deals that are signed at these events can bring in millions of dollars in tourism spending for years following the show.”

Elmhirst noted that Calgary, which was the destination of this year’s event, will benefit from an estimated £690,000 spend as a direct result of being a host city.

During the three days of the event, over 28,000 face-to-face meetings took place and one third of the buyers present would have fulfiled at least 50% of their purchasing needs.
