Frequent flyer plans unveiled

SKYTEAMcarriers has unveiled a joint frequent-flyer programme.

The passengers that use the airlines the most will gain Elite and Elite Plus status, enabling them to use benefits on all four carriers including access to all lounges, priority waiting and boarding.

Customers will also remain in individual carrier’s schemes to gain rewards.

SkyTeam is to issue an around-the-world ticket valid on all four parts of the alliance which includes Air France, Korean Air, Delta and AeroMexico.

The ticket will allow for stops at each carriers main cities, including Paris and Seoul. Prices are yet to be confirmed.

Korean Air is expected to start full codesharing again with Delta and Air France next year. Currently Delta and Air France are barred from putting their code on Korean Air due to safety concerns. Experts from the US airline and Boeing are set to complete a safety overhaul at Korean Air this winter.
