Post Office looks to sell insurance on-line

THEPOST Office is aiming to take a larger slice of agents’ travel insurance sales with a new Web site that allows customers to book on-line.

A spokeswoman for the company would not reveal sales targets but admitted the aim is to take business from other travel insurance outlets.

The Post Office has grabbed a 5% share of the travel insurance market.

“We see launching on-line as a way of getting our product to more people,” she added.

The Post Office is also offering currency exchange on-line but she denied its ambition is to sell holidays on the Web.

To encourage insurance sales, the Post Office has discounted its annual policies by 10%. The reduction brings the cost of an individual multi-trip policy to £54 for Europe and £95 for worldwide cover.
