Hayley Tapping, administration assistant, Passenger Shipping Association


Education and training: eight GCSEs, followed by a National Vocational Qualification in travel and tourism at Mid-Kent College. NVQLevel 2 in Customer Services; BTec (Advanced) OverseasIn Resort Operations and Resort Representatives; Level 1 and 2 Passenger Shipping Association Retail Agents’ Scheme.


First Travel Job: Hayley undertook her college work experience at PSARAin autumn 1998, aged 17. She impressed them so much, they offered her a job as office junior.


Advice for people wishing to to develop a career in travel: “Work experience is extremely important as it’s a good opportunity to showcase your skills to future employers. It can also lead to a job. Also, always look for ways to improve yourself in the role you are doing at the moment.”
