insurance tips
n Remind clients who plan to shop around that you will not be able to help out if there is a problem and they did not buy their insurance with you.
n Be sure to issue a policy at the time of collecting the premium and preferably at the time of booking the travel arrangements as cancellation cover applies with immediate effect.
n Get a copy of the Post Office and Boots’ travel insurance sales leaflets, see how much they charge and beat it. Next time a client says they are cheaper, you can show them they are not.
n If your client has an annual policy, offer to quote when it comes up for renewal.
n If a client refuses insurance, ask them to sign an indemnity form – it makes them realise they will not be able to claim they were uninformed if something goes wrong.
n Trade clients up from the basic free insurance package by pointing out the extra cover they can have for a small premium.
n If the client intends to take part in a hazardous pursuit such as hang-gliding or scuba diving, make sure the policy provides cover.
Take cover:make sure the policy covers potentially hazardous pursuits like scuba diving
