Princess Cruises offers discounts on 2001 offers

PRINCESS Cruises has increased its early-booking discount for holidays taken in shoulder seasons from 20% to 30%.

In the cruiseline’s 2000 programme, a 20% discount was offered across the board. But in its newly published Alaska and Europe brochures, a 30% reduction is available on holidays taken before June 1 and after August 31.

The peak season 20% discount remains the same. Bookings have to be made before November 30 to qualify for either reduction.

Sales and planning director Nigel Esdale said: “This is intended to encourage demand on those shoulder dates which are our weaker ones.”

Princess published its Alaska and Europe programmes together in one large brochure for this year but they have been separated into two again for next year.

“They are very different programmes,” said Esdale. “People found it more difficult than they needed to find holidays.”

Princess has announced that its new ship Golden Princess will take over itineraries operated by Grand Princess in Europe. And a second ship has been added to the cruiseline’s New England programme for autumn next year.
