Longwood tips Egyptian resort Taba as next Red Sea hot spot

ISRAEL specialist Longwood Holidays has tipped the Egyptian resort of Taba to become the next Red Sea boom destination.

Managing director Rafi Caplin said the resort will lose its tag of a diving-only resort in the next couple of years.

Launching the operator’s Egypt 2000/01 brochure, Caplin said: “Taba started off being a strong pull for diving enthusiasts.

“However, I can see that with over 50 upmarket hotels being built over the next couple of years, Taba will become known as a resort in its own right.”

Longwood has included three Taba new hotels in the brochure which offers holidays from August this year to June next year.

The Steigenberger La Playa, the Sea Star and the Hyatt Regency at the purpose-built Taba Heights are featured with prices starting from £320 per person at the Sea Star.

The 54-page brochure features 70 hotels in Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, the Sinai coast, Taba, Sharm El Sheikh, Nuweiba, Dahab, Hurghada and El Gouna. Prices lead in at £288 per person for seven nights’ bed and breakfast at the Tropicana Tivoli Hotel in Sharm el Sheikh.
