P&O Portsmouth committed to investing in travel agents

P&O Portsmouth has invested both time and money in the travel agent and I would like to assure Simon Morgan (Travel Weekly July 31) that we will continue to do so.


Our agency sales team has just completed a round of training cruise shows for over 200 agents and is holding a number of party nights, by the end of which we will have trained nearly 1,000 agents.


As Simon rightly points out, viewdata will be superseded, yet it is still here in the short term and many agents still use it as their booking system. To help agents make a ferry booking, we recently updated our viewdata manual and put this in the cruise shows.


The Internet has certainly empowered the consumer, but I believe it will be some time yet until all agents have easy access to it.


To ensure we stay in touch with those with Internet access we have set up an agency sales e-mail postbox (agency.sales@poportsmouth.com) for agents to forward their comments to us.


This list has helped us collate comments abouton-line booking systems. Once we have finished this, we will have the all important travel agent log-in button.
