Retailers urged to check small print on directory order forms
AGENTS are being warned to check the small print before sending their details to travel guides as it may end up costing them hundreds of pounds.Tour and Travel Guide, a Switzerland-based company which produces two directories a year with listings of hotels, motels, guest houses, travel agencies and tourist boards worldwide, has been sending order forms to agents asking for details of their services.
But agents say the small print reveals they have to fork out £504 per inclusion. They also claim it binds them to future editions.
Business agency Travel Incorporate managing director Jeremy King said: “If I were a branch manager and I received that and was very busy, it’s possible I may sign it. Agents must be on their guard.”
But a Tour and Travel Guide spokesman insisted people had a month to change their minds and could notify the company using its fax number or via its Web address included on the form.
