I am writing in regard to Virgin Atlantic’s latest promotion, which is in response to British Airways’ latest campaign. Virgin is offering a further £1 discount over and above BA’s standard or bonus offer.
If Virgin can afford to drop prices then why doesn’t it? Why is every promotion in response to a BApromotion?
Before this one it was free companion flights, copied by several other airlines as well.
I’m sure Virgin has got a marketing department that can come up with original ideas. This latest promotion is obviously aimed at provingVirgin is priced lower than BA,rather than with any thought for its customers.
This is the kind of attitude you would expect of a cheap electrical shop, not a major airline.
The “anything you can do I can do better” (by £1) attitude is not the way to win customers.
I’m not a big fan of British Airways. However, Iwould like to see promotions that are of genuine benefit to the customer and are not introduced purely for the sake of competition.
