Malmaison founder launches ‘affordable’ Columbus brand
founder of the mid-market Malmaison Group Ken McCulloch has launched an “affordable” hotel brand called Columbus. The first hotel opens in Monaco in April next year and will be called Columbus Monaco. Once renovation is complete, it will have 160 bedrooms and 120 suites plus sports and meeting facilities. Prices per room per night will lead in at £100.
Discussions are also underway in Glasgow for a second hotel where McCulloch already runs the exclusive One DevonshireGardens.
A spokeswoman said: “It will be a similar concept to Malmaison with designer hotels but not at designer prices.”
McCulloch severed his ties with the Malmaison Group last year following its purchase by US hotel group Wyndham International.
