Brochure caters for VFR market

Finding accommodation for clients who wish to travel around New Zealand independently should be made easier with the release of the new Australia and New Zealand Hotels and Homes Blue Book.

The brochure is for agent use only and provides information on hundreds of hotels, private rental homes, apartments and other high demand land product in New Zealand, designed mainly to accommodate the visiting friends and relatives market.

Published by ANZ Tailor Made Holidays, part of the USA Tailor Made Holidays brand which has been in operation since early 1996, the brochure has been distributed to 5,000 travel agents with a promise to supply a price for any land based product in New Zealand.

Managing director Philip Read said:”If it exists, we will find it.”

Commission levels of 10% and local taxes are included in the published prices. The lead-in price for hotel accommodation in New Zealand is £35 per room at the Quality Hotel Autolodge in Christchurch and farmstays lead at £36 per person per night.

“We want the client and agent to take control of the product and determine the holiday they want,” said Read.

Despite its recent launch, the operator is already planning additions to the next brochure due to be launched in early 2001 after noticing a strong demand for New Zealand apartments and private homes.

“Next year we will feature 12 private homes in New Zealand and see how that market develops, we will provide the product the client is after,” said Read.

The brochure is supported by an eight strong reservations team and will be backed by a £10,000-£15, 000 marketing spend over the next year, which will include visits to agencies, merchandising and flyers.
